Once upon a time

Don't you just love a good beginning? Every casual reader wants to find themselves hooked from page one--especially if the story is going to be a long one. Unfortunately, I could not find an amazing title to my very first blog. Without spending time hunting and pondering, I chose the famous ol' fairy tale words, "Once upon a time". Simply stated, that's how it all begins. Once upon a time, I was loved. Once upon a time, I met my Savior. Once upon a time, I became a wife and mother. Once upon a time, I left America, and once upon a time, I returned. I could go on and on, but consisely I'd like to say that without all these 'once upon a times', I wouldn't be who I am today. Life is kind-of like that, you know. A whole bunch of seemingly small happenings combine to mean more to us than we ever drempt possible. You soon realize chance encounters are actually divine ones. People you interact with become character builders, and problems become stepping stones in your journey of faith. I look forward to having a place to blog my thoughts and experiences, because somehow it may become a 'once upon a time' for someone else.

  4. Hey Mrs. Marion! Thanks for stopping by. We are returning to Moldova, but only for short visits. We're actually all going in April for 5 weeks. It'll be the first time the kids and I have been back since we moved almost 2 years ago. We absolutely cannot wait! Those feelings will be expressed in a future blog, I'm sure!

My time in Texas was full of mixed emotions. I hated it upon arrival; not because of it being Lubbock, but because of having to move at 13. Enough said. I grew to love Texas, despite the health problems for our family. I guess if I could pick out one theme, so to speak, about what I learned in hindsight, it would be that God is truly sovereign. In retrospect I can truly say that this was our family's theme for our years there. Only a sovereign God could orchestrate unforgettable friends for a hurting young teen, provide a Christian wife for a football jock, and give survival and medical care to a cancer ravaged mom. AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Definitely Sovereign.

  9. Ethan should arrive the beginning of August. D-Day is set for 8/11, but we were told at our last Doctor visit that he would probably be a few days of a week early.
